Our organization collects used paper by a system of special
boxes provided exclusively for recycled paper. Such boxes are
strategically located at various spots within our business
premises. The collection of such paper is performed by a contracted
paper-collection firm at least once a month. Even though it may
seem that today collection of paper is a standard practice in most
firms it is important, from time to time, to recall the most
valuable benefits of paper recycling. Namely, it helps to:
- Considerably reduce the amount of waste that is being deposited
at landfills,
- Obtain new resources for production of recycled products,
- Save energy since such production process consumes 30 to 55 %
less energy than paper production from trees and the impact on the
preservation of to rainforests is self-evident,
- Reduce water pollution,
- Reduce air pollution since the production process of waste
paper generates fewer gas emissions.
After the used paper is handed over to the paper-collection
firm, the organization fulfills a special form which confirms that
a certain amount of paper has been handed over and it is further
attested by the paper-collection firm in order to keep a full track
on the amount of paper being sent for recycling.
Our organization also takes care to properly dispose of ink toners
used in printers. Since most toners being used are refillable,
employees are instructed to place the empty toners in special
compartments located in the print zones. Such toners are then
collected and disposed of by a contracted supplier. The
organization also keeps track of such amount of toners being
disposed.
